GCafe+ Client frequently asked questions

Updated

Common questions about GCafe+ Client on client PCs: closing the app, temporary locks, languages, updates and game storage.

Does clicking ✕ close the Client App?

No. ✕ only hides the window to the tray; click the G+ icon to reopen. See Get to know the Client App.

Does a temporary lock stop billing?

No. The session keeps running and time is charged. Log out (members) or ask the counter (guests) to stop billing. See Lock the PC temporarily.

What happens when time runs out during a game?

The Client App warns several times (from 30 minutes) and announces 10, 5 and 3 minutes left. When time is up the PC locks; top up before that to keep playing. See Low-time warnings.

Can guests sign in on the lock screen?

No. Guests are opened by the counter; the lock screen accepts member accounts only.

Does changing the language on one PC affect others?

No. The language picked in Settings applies to that PC until the café changes the language in GCafe Portal. See Client App settings.

Will a GCafe+ Client update kick out playing customers?

No. Parts in use are replaced only at a suitable moment, and the PC does not restart by itself. See GCafe+ Client auto-update.

How long until a new banner / lock background shows on client PCs?

Usually within about 2 minutes. The Windows wallpaper changes on the next unlock. See Banner, wallpaper and lock screen background.

Where are downloaded games stored on the client PC?

By default the same path as on GCafe Update; if the PC lacks that drive, an existing drive is used. The admin account can change it in Settings. See Game server and download folder.
